Hagar and Anthony previously worked with Satriani in supergroup Chickenfoot. They made two albums between 2009 and 2011 and toured across the United States, but never performed a Van Halen song. After Chickenfoot, Halen and Anthony began playing with guitarist Vic, Johnson and Jason Bonham on the Van Halen track Sammy Hagar and the Circle.
