My favorite things the Amazon Echo Show can do

There are many techniques smart display Can. But not all of them are equal or worth following the advice of this style.

The basics are simple – almost anyone knows how convenient it is to ask any question Smart speakers Or a smart display to tell you the weather or play music. You should do this! This is their best use case, especially as smart displays like the Echo Show can give you more weather details on the screen. But that’s not all these portable devices can do, and for the price you should get the most out of any smart display you buy.

Amazon’s Echo Show has its own special tricks and activation methods. Here are three of my favorite uses for the Echo Show and how to fix my least favorite feature. Play with widgets

Widgets are my favorite casual feature of the Echo Shows. They’re little squares with shortcut content that you can customize, ranging from notes or calendars to managing your smart home, quickly accessing certain music, and more.

Initially, they were only available on the larger Echo Show 15, but are now available on Echo Show 8 and 10. On the Echo Show 15, widgets are always displayed on the screen due to the large space, and there is a widget panel that can hold up to 10 widgets. For Echo Shows 8 and 10, they appear in a slideshow that rotates on the screen. You can display up to four widgets on the Echo Show 8, and up to six widgets on the Echo Show 8. Echo Show 10.

I like to use it to keep my calendar view, my smart home favorites, and the weather in an easy-to-see location. They’re great for customizing your smart home controls if that’s what you want your device to focus on; Echo Center (8/10, recommended by Wired) relies entirely on widgets as smart home devices.

Check on your kids and cats

Echo Shows also have a camera at the top of the screen that can be used for video calls and also doubles as an indoor security camera – well, sort of. There are two main features under this umbrella: Live Push, which lets you watch live video feeds of what’s happening on your Echo Show device, and Home Monitoring, which you can use with other smart home devices and set up routines.

You can ask any Echo Show to give you instant feedback from another Show device as long as you know the device’s name (or select it from the list of devices if you don’t want to use voice commands). It’s a simple way to quickly check on things like pets and children without the need for full-fledged security cameras. The device alerts anyone in the room that someone is monitoring the room using an Echo Show, so it doesn’t act like a true security camera.
