Mount Street appoints new managing director to new role in U.S. loan servicing division

Mount Street Group has hired Dean Wheeler as managing director and head of US operations as it aims to double its current share of the US commercial real estate (CRE) loan servicing business.

Mount Street has as a strategic partner Mission Peak Capital, which hopes to double its assets under management from its current AUM of $36.3 billion, according to a company statement. Wheeler will oversee all loan servicing, asset management and special servicing activities while growing the team and implementing fintech strategy around Mount Street’s CreditHub solution, its proprietary lending app.

Overseeing large enterprises is not new to Wheeler, who ran a more than $160 billion CRE servicing business with 8,000 loans from a center of 300 employees while serving as director of servicing and asset management operations at SitusAMC. He has since founded True North, where he serves as president of the performance solutions company’s software and consulting businesses.

A statement said: “Dean will help us achieve our growth goals in the United States, a commercial real estate market currently dominated by a handful of players but ripe for disruption due to technology and demographic changes. “His record of business expansion will be critical as we look to enhance and improve our infrastructure and rapidly increase our assets under management,” said Paul Lloyd, co-founder and CEO of Mount Street.

Shortly after Mount Street announced Wheeler’s promotion, the company said it had promoted Serenity Morley to global chief operating officer, another newly created position. Morley will coordinate the company’s overall growth strategy across all areas of loan servicing and asset management, benefiting its 11 offices globally, according to an earlier statement from the company.
