The match was a repeat of January’s Australian Open final, which the 22-year-old Italian Sinner won in five sets.

He will face Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in the final, who defeated fourth seed Alexander Zverev 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 6-4.

“I felt great on the court today,” Sinner told Sky Sports. “My serve was very good, especially in important moments.

World No. 4 Medvedev, who beat Sinner to win the Miami title last year, made 22 unforced errors in the match and was jeered by the crowd at Hard Rock Stadium after two errors in the second set.

Dimitrov followed up his victory over Alcaraz in the quarter-finals with a win over German Zverev, which will see him return to the top 10 in the world for the first time since 2018.

“I think consistently beating top players is more successful for me than anything else,” the 32-year-old said.

“If you do that, you get ranked. If you do that, things get better. I think discipline got me to this moment. Nothing else. I didn’t stray from my goals.

“I had a little goal throughout – I had a goal every week, and it was also really important to me to be able to put my body through all of that every day. When you start to put it all together, I think it’s That’s what I’m most proud of.”
