The Kansas City Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Sunday after winning their respective divisions.

The game was a David-and-Goliath quarterback story, with 49ers rookie Brock Purdy taking on two-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes against the Chiefs.

This is the Chiefs’ fourth bowl game appearance in the past five seasons, giving the defending champions a chance to become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots nearly two decades ago. The Chiefs have won three Super Bowls.

The 49ers have won five Super Bowls but haven’t won since 1995. It was the Chiefs who thwarted their last chance at a title in 2020.

The 2024 Super Bowl will be held on February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. ET and will air live on CBS.

The Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 on Sunday to win the AFC Championship.

Quarterback Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce kept connecting to give the Chiefs the lead.Last week, the dynamic duo broke the record for most post-season touchdown passes between a quarterback and a receiver, according to NPR Member station KCURpreviously held by former Patriots players Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.

But the Chiefs’ effort to stay ahead and punch their ticket to the Super Bowl came down to the defense.

“Since the playoffs began this month, the Chiefs have had doubts about whether they could shake off their regular-season weaknesses,” KCUR reported.
