The past few weeks have been incredible for Texas Rangers superstar Marcus Semien. Not only did the 33-year-old infielder win his first career World Series, but his individual efforts day in and day out are now recognized by the MLBPAA. (Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association) won the 2023 Heart & Hustle Award.

The Heart & Hustle Award is not determined based on year-end statistics, but rather on the recipient’s performance throughout the year. The MLBPAA identified Marcus Semien as the top choice to receive the award based on his passion for the game.
Another deciding factor for voters is whether the finalists reflect the traditions, values and spirit of the game of baseball. Texas Rangers Throughout the season, he not only helped the club win the World Series, but he also set the MLB record for most appearances in a season with 835 total plate appearances.
In a recent interview with MLB Network, Semien explained that throughout his career, he has always felt like he was never the strongest or fastest player, which is why he puts in the effort every game. “I definitely felt like a loser sometimes,” Semien said, explaining that even in college he didn’t feel like he had the attributes to reach a superstar level.
