Garmin Forerunner 165 has better sensors and equally great training

Forerunner moved me up to a tempo run, and my heart rate is lower than before. marvelous!

The Forerunner 165 is the latest addition to the Garmin Forerunner series, but there is nothing outdated in the Forerunner series.If you’re a beginner runner, you can find barebones Forerunner 55 At under $200, this one is a no-brainer! However, the Forerunner 165 has enough bells and whistles that, for me, it’s worth the extra cash.

The Forerunner 165 looks like a standard Garmin technology device. It features a familiar five-button layout (three on the left, two on the right) with a chemically strengthened screen, polymer bezel, and silicone strap. NOTE: You need to wash your watch band every two to three days if you don’t want to get a rash on your wrist. It also now features a new, bright AMOLED display, which I had no problem seeing in bright, direct sunlight.

It’s also a touchscreen, so I had far fewer fatal failures navigating the button system. Same thing with when I accidentally called my emergency contact by holding the wrong button for too long. (This is the up button on the left. Don’t hold it down unless you’re in trouble.)

Higher-end Forerunner models are aimed at multi-sport athletes, but the Forerunner 165 is aimed very specifically at runners.As well as personalized adaptive training plans, you can now see metrics like running power and cadence on the screen on your wrist, as well as some of Garmin’s more esoteric proprietary metrics like training resultswhich can help you determine how much each exercise affects your overall performance.

The reason you should choose the Forerunner 165 over the Forerunner 55 is that in addition to a better display, you also get more sensors. In addition to the current standard multi-band GPS positioning systems (GPS, Glonass and Galileo), you can also use these systems to locate your precise exercise indicators – Forerunner 165 is equipped with a pulse oximeter sensor, barometric altimeter, and compass and ambient light sensor.
