When Utah State football released its official depth chart before the season opener, Cam Rising was listed as the starting quarterback. However, the quarterback has not been able to take the field for Utah this season as he is still recovering from injury.
Rising suffered an ACL injury in January’s Rose Bowl game against Penn State and has been sidelined since. Fans are anticipating his return this season, but uncertainty has clouded the outlook for the entire season.

Cam Rising will be unavailable this weekend as No. 13 Utah plays No. 5 on the road washington in Week 11 Pac-12 play. The quarterback is not expected to return to action this season as he undergoes intensive rehab.
Utah Fans have experienced growing frustration throughout the season due to the lack of a clear timetable for the star quarterback’s return. In October, Rising discussed in depth the reasons for his lengthy recovery from a knee injury in an interview with ESPN.
“I wasn’t really looking forward to doing this, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I didn’t just tear my ACL. I tore my meniscus, my MPFL and my MCL. It was a major surgery and recovery. It hasn’t been easy. I’ve been working my butt off.”

Surgeon claims Rising is ahead of schedule
Dr. Neal ElAttrache, considered one of the nation’s leading orthopedic knee surgeons, performed Rising’s surgery in January. With Cam Rising’s permission, he provided some injury details to The Athletic and noted that the quarterback is recovering well.
“In Cam’s case, he’s always been on schedule or ahead of schedule with what he’s been able to do and what we’ve asked him to do,” ElAttrache said.
“He went through it calmly, and actually when you looked at him you had no idea what kind of injury he had, how big it was, and how extensive the surgery was.”
Cam Rising was earlier expected to enter the upcoming 2024 season National Football League DraftHowever, considering he will miss the entire 2023 season, the quarterback is expected to return to college football in 2024. This will significantly help improve his draft chances through 2025.
