A fistfight nearly broke out between Republican senators, and the gloves came off. Markwayne Mullin and the President of the Teamsters Association, Sean O’Brienon Capitol Hill on Tuesday… was roundly rebuked by senators. Bernie Sanders.
The tension came after former MMA fighter Mullin read out O’Brien’s tweets during a heated prison hearing in which he was labeled a “clown and a fraud” among various other insults. This breaks out.
Mullin fixed his stern gaze firmly on his opponent, warning that “he has a time and a place to speak”… and that as “two consenting adults” they could “get it done here.”
The two urged each other to “stand up” and fight to the death, leaving a fretful Sanders to keep the peace and remind Mullin of his responsibilities as a U.S. senator.
“God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress,” Sanders said, visibly angry about the impending showdown.
Mullin relentlessly continued to taunt his opponent to “quiet down”… only for O’Brien to fire back, comparing him to a 12-year-old for challenging him to a cage match. Ouch.
There was ultimately no winner in this verbal boxing match, and Bernie dropped the gavel…rebuking any more chatter of physical abuse.
