Arizona hiker finds missing woman’s body near mountain peak


A group of hikers in Arizona stumble upon a dead body missing woman Friday while hiking Mt.

The hikers were approaching a peak near Craggy Wash, north of Lake Havasu City, when they spotted an unresponsive man. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office the search and rescue team said.

The group called the Sheriff’s Office for help around 5 p.m., saying the rough terrain prevented them from getting close to check on the man, officials said.

Rescue teams responded and determined the man was deceased.

Officials said the rescue operation was delayed until the next morning due to the complex location.

The body was later identified as that of Melinda Oakeson, 46, who had recently been reported missing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office did not immediately provide details about how Oxen died or how she arrived at the location On the mountainside.
